I am very interested in the summer programs that most theaters have to offer, and applied to the intensive at the Steppenwolf. I have relatives in Chicago that would make the 3-month program less pricey by cutting the costs of living. And when I was in New York about a year ago, I saw the pre-Tony August: Osage County (with Dennis Letts as Beverley). I loved the show. The friends I went with were also theatre students, creating some really interesting post-show discussions at a pub nearby. So the Steppenwolf's draw for me is multi-faceted; practical in nature, yes, but also intense admiration for their theatre.

So I assumed that my application might get looked over, but probably passed on (since all of my experience is in the state of Washington). But to my surprise, they called me for an audition. The timing didn't work out (One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest was a large barrier to my travel plans), but I was really excited to get the call. And extremely disappointed that I couldn't attend.

But next year...?
